SKILLS
(1) The student will be able explain the co-function nature of sine and cosine.
(2) The student will be able to calculate values that would make sine and cosine equal. |
|
THE BIG IDEA
That sine and cosine are co-functions and that simply a horizontal shift of pi/2. That knowing values of sine can help us determine cosine values as well.
|
TRAPS & PITFALLS
When algebraic unknowns are put in the angle locations students want to set the values equal to each other instead of summing to 90 degrees. |
|
PAST CONNECTIONS
The basic trigonometric ratios of sine and cosine.
FUTURE CONNECTIONS
Understanding the concepts underneath the basic trigonometric ratios will help student succeed as we build on trigonometry in future courses. |
